Graco My Ride 65 Car Seat - Bartlett Review

This is a beautiful car seat compared to other car seats in it’s price category and higher price categories. It has a higher rear facing limit then the marathon. It is very well padded and has much more padding and room than my Graco infant safeseat that went to 30 lbs did. My son hated that thing, it was so narrow, i felt like i was squishing him to get him in, he is much happier in his big boy seat!
It does have more of a recline than other convertible car seats but I like it.
I got a very good install in all of the cars I have put it in, Hyundai accent, ford focus, nissan pathfinder. I did have trouble tightening the straps all of the way to make them snug on my sons shoulders when It was installed rear facing, I will be calling Graco about it very soon and will post an update.
As for being wider than other car seats well it is only about 1 inch wider than the Marathon, I just wanted to clarify that because people keep saying how wide it is. It not as wide as everyone is making it out to be. The base is very thin at only about 14inches so I think it will fit in an airplane very well. Which I will be trying out shortly on my trip back to Australia, I will keep you posted.
The Bartlett cover is very luxurious. I think they have changed the elastic around the cupholders to be better now because I had read some complaints on it falling off, well this is definitely not a problem for me. I purchased mine 10/25/09-car seat manufactured in September 09 and it seems to be well attached on my seat.
Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase. It seems very safe and very comfy for my son. Both of which are very important to me.

very nice, a bit large for small cars - Peter Dahlheimer - CO
i like the design and the apparent comfort for the baby. as mentioned, the longer the child can face rearward, the safer the seat. however, for my volkswagen golf, while it fits ok, the passenger in the front seat (in front of the placement of the car seat) can be a bit squished. one can get a little more room by mounting the car seat in the middle in the back, but then the seat needs to be mounted via seatbelt instead of LATCH. i’ve bought two of these seats now, so needless to say i’m satisfied.
Is This a Safe Seat? - Hierphont - USA
I purchased this seat for my grandson and installed it in our Honda Element. It is easy to install as there are just three latch points and this system seems to work very well. However, my wife and my son both think there is still more than one inch of movement when the seat is as tight as you can get it by tighteneing the straps. And I saw a similar comment in another review here at Amazon. I would just like to get an objective opinion on whether or not this car seat is safe. I assume that it is, but I do realize that even engineers, safety boards, and the whole apparatus of government are sometimes wrong, and the one concerned parent is right. At 0.00, this is not a cheap seat. My wife’s solution has been to use the lap belt to snug down the seat. Since the lap belt system was an ad hoc system that worked okay, but I assume was not perfect (or why create the LATCH system?)then I question why we need yet another redundant system in our lives, for I already have a house full of them. Short answer, buy another seat, even though this is to my eyes a beauty.
Straps are awful - F. Levi -
I bought this seat because of the high rear-facing limit and the low price.
Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. It’s harder to install than the Britax seats, the straps are more flimsy but most of all they are very hard to adjust well. Most of the time, once you tighten them on your child, it will be much tighter on one side than another… a problem I never had with the Britax seats. It’s fixable but it can take a while.
So overall I’d say it’s a good seat for a second car, but for the main car I’d get something more expensive but easier to install and adjust… you get what you pay for.
